Expert Osteopathy At The Health Hub

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues working smoothly together.

If you’re dealing with ongoing pain, injury, or something that’s simply affecting your day-to-day life, osteopathy may help bring relief. The aim is to improve how your body moves and functions — helping you feel freer, stronger, and pain-free — and ultimately improving your quality of life.

Assessment

Now we’ll take a closer look at your injury/health concern by conducting some tests. We’ll usually get you to do some movements to establish where the pain may be stemming from. We may also conduct a neurological, orthopaedic and/or blood pressure screen.

Diagnosis

After the assessment we will discuss the diagnosis with you. If we feel further tests are needed we’ll talk about it at this point. Most of the time we now talk about your treatment plan.

Treatment

The bit you probably heard about! We’ll start treatment which may involve exercise therapy, soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, manipulation or medical acupuncture.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

There is no set number of treatments. This will depend on the severity length of time you have had your issue. For minor problems, only a few treatments are needed. The majority may need a course of 4-6 treatments. Treatments normally happen on a weekly basis. When you start to see improvement, your Osteopath may extend your next visit to 2/3 weeks to give you time to do your rehabilitation. This will always depend on the plan you’ve made and your practitioner will decide this with you.

Cranial Osteopathy for Babies and Children at The Health Hub

Ashley offers Cranial Osteopathy as part of our children’s clinic, providing gentle, effective treatment that can significantly benefit young patients.

Cranial osteopathy helps to soothe the nervous system by activating the parasympathetic nervous system (the body’s “rest and digest” mode), which counteracts the stress response. By carefully manipulating the cranial bones and tissues, Ashley can ease tension and restrictions, improving the flow of communication between the brain and body, ultimately supporting overall health and wellbeing.

By addressing imbalances and restrictions within the body, cranial osteopathy promotes improved circulation, reduces inflammation, and boosts the body’s natural healing capabilities. This can be particularly helpful for children dealing with a variety of health concerns, from digestive issues to musculoskeletal problems.

Cranial osteopathy encourages relaxation and reduces tension, helping babies and children feel more comfortable and at ease. This is especially beneficial for infants experiencing discomfort from colic, reflux, or teething. By promoting relaxation, cranial osteopathy can significantly improve the quality of life for both young patients and their families.
